Bored at work

The things wrong with my workplace are:

  1. They didn’t refund me £17 cab even though I saved them £50 odd. See earlier post.
  2. Even when it’s sunny they have these grey venetian blinds right down, so i feel like I’m working in a warehouse.
  3. Nobody talks properly to each other. They all talk on MSN messenger. So instead of the person across from me asking if I want to go for a coffee/ if I have the link to some area of the site / if I have the HTML dictionary, they’ll IM me. Weird.
  4. People eat lunch at their desk and take short lunch breaks.
  5. People dress smart all the time and I prefer wearing jeans and trainers and I feel like a skank.
  6. People talk in a business way about “revenue” and about “exciting developments” and everything is labelled as “important” or “exciting” without really fitting my description.
  7. I’m not allowed rests for my feet or wrists as it’s “against health and safety”. I’m not even allowed to bring in some that I would buy. Wack.
  8. There is nowhere to get a nice cheap healthy lunch. It’s all £2 potnoodles or £5 crappy paninis. Yuck.
  9. I don’t have enough work. I’m bored. Everything is easy and I probably don’t put enough effort/ concentration in to it. I ended up playing a virtual association game with MrC yesterday as he was at home. I am not learning anything and I feel my brain is following the law of entropy.
  10. I have to sit on my ass infront of a computer all day and ruin my eyesight and my waistline
  11. They have a crap air conditioning / heating system so that it’s either too hot or too cold and always too dry.
  12. It’s all men in power women underneath, patriarchial stuff.
  13. It’s just pants.

I know lots of times bloggers are looking for the good in things and being happy happy joy joy and probably telling me to look on the brightside. But today I want to moan and not even think there is anything good in my job at all. I’ll save that for when I am really dispirited.

If you’re using WordPress 2.6.1 and your theme is older, it may not be completely compatible with some of the newer features of the blog, which could be a reason why your ordered list got screwed up.

Or, have you updated your WYSIWYG editor with a fancier version of TinyMCE or another plugin?

“It’s all men in power women underneath, patriarchial stuff.”

What’s wrong with that? That’s the way it should be.

Damnit. Why is Arizaphale still Number 1. I want to be Number 1.

Absolute bollocks. Employers *must* provide rests for wrists and feet if required. It’s their responsibility to provide them:

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/HealthAndSafetyAtWork/DG_10026668

And, in fact, they should do a yearly assessment of your working environment.

And how is a wrist or foot rest against health and safety regulations? (It’s not like your gonna trip over them or knock yourself out with one…) Exactly what regulation does it contravene? (A worthwhile question I think – always ask such questions at every opportunity – it’s often a way to get direct to the bottom of a load of bullshit from someone who either doesn’t know what they are doing, or simply can’t be arsed).

Sounds like this job is not the panacea you thought it may be. No shame in that. Find another one and THEN leave :-)
As for AFM….his need for ‘patriarchal stuff’ is reflected in his desire to be number 1. Poor dear boy. Welcome to the ‘real’ virtual world where women can ‘out comment’ men any day of the week!
Probably why we’re not in charge at your work though. Too busy pissing about on blogs.

Wow, my job feels like that sometimes. Well, okay, I can relate to 9-11.
